Tot School

Avery is 17 months old
Tot School

I'm excited to link up to Tot School for my first time this week.  Avery and I have been doing Tot School for a few weeks now and I decided it was time to join in.  I already wrote 2 other posts on what we have been up to since we started, so here are the links increase you are interested in checking them out.

Before becoming an elementary school teacher, I was an aide in a Montessori school in a 3 to 5 year old classroom and my sister is currently a Montessori toddler teacher.  So a lot of my works/toys tend to have a Montessori influence. Anyway, here are the remainder of works we have out and have using during Tot School.

This first one is her container work.  Like the bean work that I wrote about here, we've had this out since before we started Tot School but it's one of her favorites.  It's simply a collection of containers and things that open that Avery loves to practice opening and closing.  It's always evolving and having new things added to it, so she never seems to get bored with it.

Avery loves this transferring work.  She actually has a pretty easy time fitting the toothpicks into the holes of the cheese shaker but what seems to be more difficult for her is getting just one toothpick out at a time.

This work is simply a round basket that I got at the dollar store and a bunch of colored pompoms that my mom made for her.  She loves dumping the pompoms all over the floor and then dropping them into the basket (hasn't quite caught on to the whole throw them into the basket thing yet).  The basket also makes a great mask/hat!

This final one isn't actually our's but one we checked out.  Our local First Chance for Kids has a L and L Library where we are able to check out tons of wonderful educational toys and materials.  So, a couple weeks ago we went there with some friends and brought home a couple of things to try out (this coming week we'll be getting out the other items we checked out).  This stacker is rather challenging for Avery since it has the two posts on it instead of one.  She sometimes get frustrated when it won't go on right away but if she keeps at it she can usually get it and then she is extra proud of herself!

I'm really excited to continue with Tot School.  My plan right now is to have 2 activities planned for each day and to put out 2 to 3 new tot trays a week, putting away those that she doesn't seem as interested in.  I'm also hoping to get some pictures of out non-tot tray activities to put up (which I have neglected to do so far).  We'll see how it goes!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!!
